About.

INSPIRED BY DIFFERENCE.

“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.” – Colin Powell

I am a IBM Certified Db2 specialist currently based in Dunedin, New Zealand.
I started out in Dunedin, New Zealand where I graduated from Otago Polytechnic with a Bachelor of Information technology and started my first I.T. related job on the Help Desk for the Dunedin City Council.

In 2009 I made the move to Wellington to expand my career in I.T. starting as a DB2 Database Administrator at BNZ where I have now progressed to be the SME in my field.
I have since moved from Wellington and back home to Dunedin where I work remotely for the BNZ.

I am highly motivated with a passion for problem solving.

GREAT DESIGN MATTERS.

“In God we trust, All others must bring data”- W.Edwards Deming
01. DESIGN.

Taking a step back and understanding the entire flow of data is key to any projects success, I ensure all work I begin has a solid design and open to all to add their opinions. At my current workplace I have completed successful design and implementations of data migrations, in-house built applications, data warehouses and OLTP data designs using a vast range of different technologies while ensuring performance was always at the forefront.

02. IMPLEMENTATION.

Communication, that is probably the most crucial part of any successful implementation. I pride myself in making sure that the entire team is consistent, motivated, and understand the target state requirements. I achieve this by keeping documentation to a high standard, easy non-technical power point and slide decks, and always asking the team questions to encourage us all to be on the same page.

03. SUPPORT.

This is the Goal line, we have designed an amazing data stream, all parties and teams are on the same page with how it all hangs together, now we need to ensure we provide the best possible support for the business. In my specific area of expertise of Db2 databases and IBM CDC, I have had the opportunity to create and mould several versions of simple HADR strategies from standard High Availability Disaster Recovery with Tivoli System Automation to a complete Geographical Dispersed Purescale Cluster to ensure we maintain the maximum uptime for our customers.

04. REPORT.

Simply put, its about the Business. I ensure the business get the most out of every delivered solution.

we now have a resilient fast performing data stream and now its time to learn from it and gather metrics the business can then use to pursue future financially rewarding adventures. I have a great business understanding of data and also how to provide detailed analytical reports using SQL against the raw data inside core databases. I use my advanced database and SQL knowledge to create User Defined Functions, Procedures and Recursive SQL to gather data from multiple sources and present it in a simple easy to read report.
